Modern Vampire Theory and Reading List

Wondering why vampires are suddenly so popular the past few years?  Well apparently so was NPR’s Margo Adler who reported reading 75 vampire novels in 9 months and proposes an interesting theory about today’s vampires.  Read the story and see her reading list here: http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=123115545.

As an aside… I’m a huge fan of Anne Rice’s vampire series, to the point where I’ve been reluctant to read any other vampire novels.  Margo’s recommendation of the ‘Twilight’ series may have helped me finally turn the corner – I’ll borrow my friend’s books when I’ve finished ‘Under the Dome’. Whether I actually see the movies is another matter…

  1. I have a mild obsession with paranormal urban fantasy novels with vampires being a main focus. I agree she is the best at what she does and it is hard to find something to compare it to. Other authors do a excellent job in both the adult and young adult genres but there is something…classic about Anne Rice.
