The End of Amazon

Well, I’ve just sold my last book on Amazon.com (yes, I know… it took me this long to drop them?). After dropping international shipping (as I was never adequately reimbursed for the actual cost of shipping overseas in the first place, never mind the new international mail fee structure), and having many of my antiquarian (by their definition, that is) listings changed or removed (requiring me to re-list them separately from my other inventory uploads), and not covering their monthly fee for the past few months now, enough is enough.

Yes, I probably should have seen the light way before now; I’ve heard many other booksellers say that Amazon doesn’t pay for them, but I guess I kept hoping things would get better (that is, more sales….). As they haven’t (and most likely won’t), I’m done. If I’m going to put work into individual listings, I’d rather spend the time putting my books up on Ebay, where I believe I’ll have an easier time selling my collectible and higher-end books – and can have a bit more say about the listing structure and shipping charges (and can upload as many photos as I want).

SO… when I finally have my act together enough to get the ball rolling, look for Withywindle to have a storefront on Ebay – I’ll keep a link to my auction listings on our website (and probably here on the blog as well) once they’re active.
