Ray Bradbury at the 2008 Eaton Conference

Falling under the category of ‘man, I wish I could do this’…

Ray Bradbury will be the guest of honor at the Eaton ConferenceChronicling Mars. The Eaton Conference is being held from May 16 – 18 at the University of California, Riverside. Also in attendance at the conference will be: Gregory Bear, Gregory Benford, Ben Bova, David Brin, David Hartwell, Howard V. Hendrix, Geoffrey A. Landis, Joseph D. Miller, LarryNiven, Frederik Pohl, Eric S. Rabkin and George Slusser. We received an email about selling there this year, but it’s too far (and too costly) to go. Bummer.

  1. I notice you mention only male writers, yet there were at least two Women of Mars there — Sheila Finch and myself. My Nebula-winning short story is “Mars Is No Place for Children” and my Analog novel is _An Old-Fashioned Martian Girl_. We were listed in the program. There were also several eminent women scholarsThere was also a Mars poet, Deborah Kolodji.Mars isn’t just for men.

  2. Thank you for bringing this to my attention!! I was reading off of an email invite I was sent, and only listed off the names they had on their (short) invite for dealers. I agree – Mars is most definitely not just for men!! (and I will head over to the website to see if I can find more info on the women authors that were there…). Congrats on the Nebula!!
